Ms. Briana Froud, Director
Briana Froud began as the Director of Berry’s Chapel in 2020. She graduated from Harding University in 2007 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Middle Level Education. After college, she taught 5th grade math and science for three years before leaving to stay at home with her first born.
Since then, Briana has worked with an inner city ministry in North Little Rock, Arkansas and served as a missionary in Arequipa, Peru. While in Peru, she helped teachers learn to teach reading comprehension skills.
When her family returned to the states in 2017, she felt a call to Christian education and worked as a children's minister in Hermitage, Tennessee. Briana and her husband, Chase, have three children, Evan, Abigail, and Miles. She is excited to be a part of the Berry’s Chapel family!
Ms. Sonia, Assistant Director & Teacher – PreK1 Class
Sonia began teaching PreK1 at Berry’s Chapel Preschool in 1999 and considers the women with which she works to be her family!
Sonia and her husband Mark have two daughters Kristen and Bethany. Her family are active members of Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ. Sonia is a graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Her passion for being a mom, love of children, and obsession with crafting and using creative teaching techniques make her so excited about another great year at BCPS!
Ms. Denise, Teacher – 2 Year Old Class
Denise Johnson has had the great pleasure and privilege of teaching at Berry's Chapel since 1987. She also worked in the two year old developmental preschool class at Waves Early Intervention for 10 years. She and her husband are both from Middle Tennessee and attend Berry's Chapel Church of Christ. With a degree in Elementary Education from MTSU, Denise has received extensive training in working with children with Autism and other developmental delays. Her three sons all attended Berry's Chapel Preschool and her grandchildren are continuing the tradition. Denise loves working with the 2's because they are so full of excitement and enthusiasm every day. Denise looks forward to another wonderful year watching these precious children as they grow and mature physically, socially, and mentally. Every day is a new and exciting adventure!
Teacher – 2 Year Old Class
Ms. Melissa, Teacher - 3 Year Old Class
Melissa Ericson has been a teacher at Berry's Chapel since 2004 and is thrilled to be teaching the 3s class this year. Melissa has been a preschool teacher, substitute teacher, and Sunday school teacher. She has also been a camp counselor and volunteer in her kids' schools for years. Melissa finds it to truly be a joy to work each day with friends who really love making learning fun and showing their students how very deeply God loves these Berries!
Melissa and husband Greg both grew up in Nashville, graduated from Lipscomb University, and lived in Franklin since 2000 when they found Berry's Chapel Preschool right away. The Ericsons have a son Drew and daughter Emily. Both still enjoy friends they made at Berry's Chapel Preschool and continue to talk about their wonderful preschool memories.
Teacher, 3s Class
Ms. Cindy, Teacher - 3 Year Old Class
Cindy Baxter is from Cookeville Tennessee where she met her husband, Brandon while at Tennessee Tech University. Cindy holds a degree in elementary education. After marrying in 2003, Cindy and Brandon have lived in the Brentwood and Franklin area. They are members of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and have two children, Matthew and Elizabeth.
Working with children has always been a passion of Cindy's. She taught preschool at High Hopes for two years and private piano lessons for over 15 years. It is such a joy to watch children learn, discover, and grow!
Ms. Jenny, Teacher - 3 Year Old Class
Jenny Davis grew up in Dickson, TN. She went on to college at Tennessee Tech University where she met and married her husband, Jason. She has degrees in Spanish and Business. After graduating college, Jenny and Jason moved to Nashville and then Franklin where they live with their kids, Joshua, Julia and Jordan. They are members at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ.
Jenny began teaching at Berry's Chapel in 2018 and she is so excited to be on the team! These early learning years are so important, and the children soak up life like little sponges. It's a privilege to get to be part of that time!
Ms. Cathy, Teacher – 4 Year Old Class
Cathy's children went to Berry's Chapel for preschool, and she feels so blessed that God put her where she needed to be so that she could continue to be a part of the preschool even after her children “graduated.” In 2010 Cathy began teaching the 4 year old class.
Cathy and her husband are both from Virginia but have been living in Franklin since 2007. She graduated from the University of Virginia, and received her Masters in Middle School Teaching from VA Commonwealth University. She spent several years teaching middle school in Virginia, and in California, and chose to stay home with her three beautiful children after they were born. Cathy fell in love with Berry's Chapel Preschool as a parent and loves it even more as a teacher.
Ms. Ashley, Teacher – 4 Year Old Class
Ashley Steakley began teaching the 4’s class with the Berry’s Chapel team in 2019. She grew up here in Franklin, TN where she attended Berry’s Chapel Preschool herself. She has two children, Kalayah and Kai who were also berries! Ashley has always had a passion for working with children and has been blessed to do so since a very young age. She feels so blessed that God has given her the opportunity to now help and watch your berries grow this year!
Ms. Michelle, Teacher – PreK1 Class
Michelle started out as a Berry's Chapel Preschool parent and soon became a teacher here. Michelle thought she would stay until her children finished preschool; they are now grown! So as you can see, Berry's Chapel is a special place to her.
Michelle grew up in Centerville, Tennessee. She attended Lipscomb University where she earned a bachelor's degree in Social Work. Michelle met her husband Scott at Lipscomb. Michelle's family are members of the Church of Christ at Green Hills where Scott is the outreach minister. Their lives are filled with teenagers and children, and they couldn't feel more blessed!
Ms. Sarah, Teacher - PreK2 Class
Sarah and husband Brett have two sons, Andrew and Curtis. Her family moved to the area in 2013 from North Carolina, where she taught fifth grade until the birth of their first child. After that, Sarah has worked with three, four, and five year-olds at the North Raleigh Church of Christ Preschool in Raleigh, NC. Having worked with elementary-aged students, Sarah knows what a wonderful gift it can be for children to have positive, fun, and engaging preschool experiences – experiences that will allow them to enter kindergarten confidently and with excitement! With that in mind, Sarah is so happy and honored to be able to be a part of your little berry’s life this year!
Ms. Beth, Teacher - PreK2 Class
Beth Hickman is excited to be back at Berry's Chapel Preschool in the PreK2 class! She feels so blessed to be a part of the loving, Christian environment at Berry's Chapel.
Beth is a native of Franklin and attended Berry's Chapel Preschool herself! She loves reading, movies, especially Marvel, all things Disney, the beach, and spending time with her husband Jim and three children, Rachel, Emily, and Eric.
Ms. Juanita, Teacher – PreK2 Class
Juanita Campbell has been a teacher at Berry's Chapel Preschool since 2004 where she has taught 3's, PreK1 and PreK2. After a year at Pearre Creek Elementary assisting teachers, she is back with new ideas and knowledge of kindergarten requirements. She not only teaches preschoolers but she also teaches elementary aged children on Sunday mornings at Clearview Baptist Church. Her hobbies include crafts, puzzles, hand bells, and exercising.
Juanita and husband Phil, a former Berry's Chapel Preschool student, met and graduated from MTSU. They have two daughters, Kathryn and Anna Leigh, both who also attended Berry's Chapel Preschool. Juanita is excited to be back amongst her Berry's Chapel family. She considers it a passion and joy to nurture and teach the next generation while showing each Jesus' love.
Ms. Cheryl, Teacher – PreK2 Class
Cheryl Crockett began teaching at Berry’s Chapel Preschool in 2001. She has taught practically every age group and has loved them all. Cheryl finds it very rewarding to watch the children grow and make incredible progress in all aspects of what they are learning. Cheryl loves her job and can honestly say she enjoys coming to work every day.
Cheryl and husband Watt have 3 children, Robert, Katie, and Sam and one adorable grandson.
